Congratulations on your Mom getting through this.
About the burns make sure she gets Xeroform and Silvadene. Xeroform is a yellow oily towel you place on the burns. First you cake on the silvadene which is a white cream Paste it on. but it’s not enough to keep her neck moist. So you then cover up with the Xeroform towels. Then wrap the whole neck in a towel and tape it. so it stays snug. Everyday gently clean off the dead skin with warm saltwater and a towel in the shower if possible. The reapply the silvadened and xeroform. The burns heal up in a week and half. Just don’t let her burns dry out or get infected.
Don’t know if you saw before but i gave you my email. jacques_usa@mac.com
Heads up. She still has another full month until she start feeling better. So hang in there.
Happy Birthday! Be proud of your Mother, and be very proud of you too. You are her support system and that is a very hard part to play, your Momma is blessed to have you.
Rachel,
Happy Birthday….. Just take it a day at a time…
Cheers,

Was the primary tumor ever tested for HPV? Was your mom a smoker or chronic drinker?
hey..yes my mom had HPV - cervical cancer age of 33. she was a smoker & drinker as well
How are things, haven’t heard from you for a long time.
Hi Rachel,
Didn’t get the oral thrush, but sure felt like it. It takes several weeks for the mouth sores to heal. The best thing is to make sure she washes her mouth and rinses with hi fluoride mouth wash and brush with hi fluoride prescription tooth paste if possible. Teeth are very susceptible to cavities and infection after the radiation, because the saliva isn’t there to protect your teeth. so be very vigilant about mouth care. It will get better slowly over the weeks.
Not sure what you mean by ears bothering you. so email me jacques_usa@mac.com.
