be there, give advice and most importnantly PRAY for her~

sore throat, deeper voice, lump in neck.

- not there yet -

first three weeks we’re a breeze until we hit 4th week. she felt nauseous, blisters in her throat, mouth, and then when we hit the 5th week her skin broke open on the outside. from the bottom of her ears, to her chest. this is from june til july 9th 08

fatigue, nauseous, loss of hair, very very weak.

My worked in a nursing home that she worked for, for 7 years as a caregiver. they became like family to her, and I. ( i work there now) that they dedicated nursing home week to her and raised money for her. it was so unexpected but brought tears to our eyes.

week 2 of radiation! caution LONG blogViews: 484

hello everyone! i haven’t forgot about you guys, i just been working as much as i can, and on my days off i’ve been taking my mom to radiation. well shes on her second week – like i said shes been going mon-fri so that should be 5 treatments a week. nope. their doing 6. their doubling up treatment on friday’s so she has to go twice. which i think is a good thing so we can just get this all over witch quicker. so yeah, 9 treatments down 26 more to go! shes been sick, throwing up, but has been able to keep control of pain management. shes on the oxy cotton 80 mil grams! but shes only using 1 at night and once during the day. it’s getting harder for her to eat now, her throat is burning and its hard to swollen. she has no saliva glands producing so shes very very dry. also- she already lost taste buds she said everything taste like PAPER. so the doctors are very concerned b.c of her weight. last week she was 126 and the week before that she was 134 – but now shes 122! in the matter of 2weeks. he said she better not lose anymore weight! he wanted to actually put her in the hospital and she said he’d be able to get 2lbs on her in 1 day. but of course my mother said no. so we’ve decided it’s now time to start feeding through the tube. shes tried to eat, but not only cant she taste, its hard to swollow, she cant keep anything down without throwing it back up. also she has 1 more chemo treatment left, but the dose is really high. i don’t know much about chemo but all i know is she has to go in 2weeks for 5hours. she actually told me that so far the chemo is worse then the radiation. i’ve been so proud of her for being so strong after everything that has happened. i had no doubt in my mind that this tumor wouldn’t shrink. well doctor today at radiation looked at it, took films of it. and GUESS WHAT GUYS?! ITS ALREADY SHRUNK! (still needs to do more though) week 2 and its already friggin shrinking i’m sooooo happy~!=)

on another note -* heres something inspirational *
cant remember if i told you guys or not, but my sister and I have different dads. hers too, has cancer of the throat stage IV. he done all his treatments chemo, radiation same as my mother..but his treatments weren’t successful. the doctors basically told him thats all they can do and theres nothing else. well he found on the the TOP doctors that specialize in this type of cancer – anywho decieded two Wednesdays ago they would do this risky surgery and TRY to take it out, even though the tumor didnt shrink. he had a 50/50 chance of survival in just the surgery alone. well guess what?! VERY successful and so far- hes clear. even though i’ve heard they dont condiser you “free of cancer” up until 5 years or so. but as of today, and yesterday, -hes free! so thats given us a lot of hope. i hope it does for you too. anything is possible guys! ANYTHING. just believe and have FATE in whatever it is you believe in! =)
i hope everyone has a good week! talk with you guys soon!

Hey! Glad to hear from you! That is good to hear that the tumor is shrinking. I hope it continues to play by the rules. =o)

Take care!
